FILM BY THE WATERS
Port Stephens schools are taking part in an initiative this year called Film By The Waters. It is a program aimed at providing opportunities for students with high potential in a range of areas, including creative arts, literacy and leadership. Nineteen Port Stephens public primary and secondary schools have each been encouraged to nominate up to 10 students to take part, with Bobs Farm being invited to include our entire primary class. Last Tuesday, teachers from these schools took part in a one-day workshop in preparation, being welcomed with a wonderful Acknowledgement of Country by the Aboriginal dance group and a performance by the incredible drum corps. It was seriously goosebumps type stuff, watching and listening to these amazingly talented and hard-working students.
The following day was for the students as well. We learnt about how to make a short film with a message, using camera angles to convey messages, create a storyboard, how to add music and edit.
In the coming weeks the students will be engaged in writing, creating, filming, editing and presenting a 3.5 minute film to be entered into the Film By The Waters challenge.
In term 3, students will then be invited to attend a RED CARPET event at Scotty's Cinema in Raymond Terrace, where some of the selected films from schools in our zone will be presented on the big screen.
This is such an exciting opportunity for our students to develop a wide range of skills, including creative and performing arts skills, networking and team building skills, leadership and confidence.

Our chickens have arrived! 🎉 It’s an exciting day for everyone, and Mrs. Hodgson and other staff might just be more thrilled than the children—if that’s even possible! 😅 With an incubator full of eggs and all the supplies ready, the children will get a fantastic chance to witness how these adorable creatures come into the world.
We'll have these lovely little visitors with us for the next two weeks. If your family is interested in providing a forever home for one or more of these cuties after that, please reach out to the school for more info! 🐣❤️
