Last year, three of our students had the idea to replace the mud kitchen, as it was deteriorating and needed a bit of an upgrade. It went from an idea to a fundraising and construction challenge for students, P&C and the local community. We have ended up with not one but two mud kitchens as a result! The smaller of the two was built and donated by the Salamander Bay Men's Shed. The second started as a secondhand purchase by the P&C, progressed to an upgrade by a generous local community member Kirra Gill, and the finishing touches were added by the Harrison and Knight Families.
We held an 'official' unveiling recently with many squeals of delight heard throughout the playground. The kitchen, complete with drive-through and active plumbing, did a short stint of 'business' before a temporary shutdown due to an uninvited, unexpected slithery customer. 🐍
When Hodgy returns to action this week after his recent USA tour-of-duty, we will revamp the kitchen area to be more student and less reptile-friendly, and then we can resume operations. 🍪🥗🥙🥤🧃
We want to say a HUGE thank you to the Men's Shed, our P&C, our community members and most importantly, our fabulous, proactive student leaders who put their ideas into action for the benefit of students for years to come!
This term we are officially launching Jump Rope For Heart as a fitness and fundraising challenge. More information will be sent home soon. In the meantime, here are some little skippers getting started with their skills and spending break times being active.
We love seeing when students go from struggling to swing a rope around once without getting their feet tangled to jumping repeatedly as if they were born doing it! It's rewarding to see the pay off for persistence and a positive attitude.
At Bobs Farm PS, we know that while teachers bring valuable knowledge and experience, some of the best learning happens between students. Our small K-6 community gives everyone plenty of chances to spend time together in the classroom and on the playground, creating wonderful, sibling-like friendships. This year, we’ve really focused on growing these connections, building a warm and supportive environment where every student knows they have friends who cheer them on and celebrate each other’s achievements. We’ve also opened up lots of fun opportunities for students to explore interests like drawing, construction, historical research, reading, role-playing, handwriting, technology, and sport. Here are some lovely snapshots showing how we’ve been strengthening our sense of belonging and teamwork in recent weeks.
The countdown is almost over in Miss Kish's house until her family grows by one. A surprise visit from Miss Kish to school recently led to huge squeals of delight and some seriously big group hugs!
We can't wait to meet you, Baby Kish! (Name given by the 2025 primary class. 👶)
