One of my absolute favourite things to do at Bobs Farm PS is spend time in the playground watching and engaging with the children in their games. Every day there's something interesting happening. It may be that someone has learnt to cross the whole way on the monkey bars by themselves or played the longest rally they've ever had in handball. It may be one of our little people throw and throw and throw and throw that basketball until they finally net a basket. The joy on their little faces when it drops in is priceless.
I love watching the wheelbarrow being carted around and loaded with fallen pine cones or the older children donning gloves and voluntarily weeding the garden beds.
I love listening to children tinkering away on the old outdoor piano or the recently installed musical bars.
There also are regular sweaty, red-faced children AND teachers gathering for eating time as they debrief after their hard-fought chasing or throwing game.
I'm regularly called upon to play DJ for the impromptu dance choreography sessions and the repeated calls of "Mrs Baxter, watch this!" can be exhausting but NEVER tiresome!
Today, I was treated to a verbal invitation to the dessert restaurant where I was seated by my friendly waiter and my order promptly taken. In no time at all my freshly cooked chocolate cake arrived, sprinkled with freshly grated chocolate curls and a fresh cup of water.
Soon I was informed that I could now order dinner if I wanted, so of course I ordered some nachos with sour cream. The gum leaf corn chips 'tasted' delicious.
The piece de resistance was the surprise extra dessert. I'm not entirely sure what this one was called but it certainly had a tropical island resort appeal to it!
I just love my job! How could I not?
Mrs Baxter 😊
