Watch Complicité – Broad character types.
Warm up your body by completing the 'undulation' exercise as Eric explains it to the group.
Complete the exercises in your own space.
Continue to explore various body leads by moving around the space (for example, knees, hips, chest, nose, chin, lips and eyes) and attaching adjectives to create broad character types (for example, old, furtive, lazy, curious, noble and happy).
Create and record a short (30 second – 1 minute) monologue for 2 or 3 of your favourite body lead characters.
Begin your monologue with the line ‘If everything goes to plan, I should be…’
Share your character monologue recordings with your group members.
Discuss and take note of the characters you think might work well together in a scene. Agree on 1 character each to use in the next activity.
