This site is to assist students of St Ives High School to enter the Duke of Edinburgh Program and to complete their award. This is program is not open to the public, participants must be enrolled at St Ives High School to be eligible to apply.
The Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award exists to give young people a chance to earn recognition for activities they do beyond the school gates. This internationally recognised award requires participants to develop themselves through Physical Activity, learning a Skill, and undertaking voluntary Service. The program requires each activity to be overseen by an assessor, who verifies that the student has completed 13 weeks in each of the activities. Each week the student writes a log of their progress in an Online Record Book. The program also requires the student to complete an Adventurous Journey - an outdoor experience that tests the students ability to be responsible for themselves and others, and to commit to an overland journey whilst supporting a team.
The SIHS Duke of Edinburgh Program is open for entry to all students in Year 9 at the beginning of each year. Watch the video below to see how the award is organised.
