The award is open to students aged 14 years or are in Year 9 at our school. It requires many administrative steps that families will need to work together to complete. Below are the steps that are required to be followed in order to achieve your award. It is important to know that any incomplete or inaccurate information will stop your award from progressing.
Watch the introductory video and review the handbook so you are well informed about the program.
When it opens, complete the Expression of Interest in Term 1 on the Resources page.
Students attend meeting at school to collect School Permission and Volunteer Guide (Assessor) forms.
Students approach 3 assessors in the activities you intend to undertake. Assessors must have a valid WWCC and must not be related to you.
Have the assessor complete the Volunteer Guide.
Photograph the Volunteer Guide forms so you have a copy, then return the forms to box in front office at school.
Receive invitation to register with Duke of Edinburgh Award from school coordinator. Do not register until you have been invited.
Enter the activity and assessor details in each category into your Online Record Book (ORB) - Physical Activity, Skill and Service.
Await activity and assessor approval. This will depend on the accuracy of the information in the form, and the assessor responding to our request for a Digital Declaration.
Once approved, start logging one hour per week in each of your activities in the ORB. 3 sentence minimum.
Plan and prepare for Adventurous Journey. You will attend a meeting to discuss the AJ and how to prepare.
Complete the Journey and write the Adventurous Journey Report. A template is provided.
Complete activity hours. Request sign off from assessor.
When all four parts are complete, request final approval from Coordinator.
Award approved by school coordinator, await Duke of Edinburgh approval.
Award approved, await presentation of Certificate and Badge.
