A mind map is a diagram that displays information visually. There are many different ways to create mind maps. You can add symbols and pictures to them, or just stick with text.
Creating mind maps from memory is one of my favorite ways to study. It helps me to recognise connections between concepts and expand on my ideas.
Put the main subject in the middle of the map.
Draw branches outward and add related ideas or keywords. This is where I like to break down the main subject into areas.
Keep breaking down each branch until you get to a level needed to explain the concept effectively.
Use different colours
Add symbols or pictures
add information around ends of branches
It doesn't have to be pretty to help you remember things
Display them on your wall so you can see and read them frequently.
I prefer making them by hand but there are plenty of free apps and websites to help you create them digitally if you want.
Here are some examples of mind maps made by students.
