Dear Parents / Caregivers,
Term 3 - a Triumphant Term!
As we reach the end of another busy and rewarding term, I’d like to take a moment to thank our students, staff, and families for their continued support, hard work, and commitment to our school community. It has been a fantastic term here at YPS filled with learning, growth, and many proud moments, and I look forward to an even more exciting and enriching Term 4 ahead!
Congratulations to our 14 students who represented YPS at the Regional Athletics competition. We are so proud of you all! We are excited to announce that Rory and Channing have made it through to the State Carnival which will be held early next term. Go Rory and Channing!
Our student numbers for 2026 are very close to us being able to form 11 classes next year! Do you know someone who is interested in joining our beautiful community here at YPS? Please have them get in touch with us - we would love to show them around! We are accepting enrolments for 2026 across the school K-6.
2025 Year 4 and 5 parents (so 2026 Stage 3) are invited to attend a discussion on 2026 class structures in the hall on Thursday 16 October at 2:50pm with Mr Kingham and myself.
After very successful P&C fundraising, we now have a fully undercover toilet block and walkway from block D to the toilets / playground. Many thanks to our P&C and whole school community for your assistance in getting this work completed for our students. No more getting wet on rainy days! Our children are very appreciative.
Congratulations to Lucas, Indi, Noah and Skyla who competed at the Public Speaking Network Finals on Tuesday. We are very proud of you!
Freeman were our PBL Rewards Day winners this term and enjoyed their special day on Tuesday. Who will take it out in Term 4?!
Many thanks to all the parents and staff who helped create such a wonderful day on Wednesday - from the volunteers of the second hand costume stall, the many staff including Mrs Thomas, Mrs Nicoll and Mr Brian who organised the day and the gorgeous enthusiasm of our students - it was another fantastic YPS event! Thanks also to those who supported the Year 6 fundraising on the day and the parents who organised this.
On Thursday and Friday I will be attending camp with Stage 2 - it should be another wonderful memory-making experience for our children. Mrs Edwards will be relieving principal on these days as Mr Kingham is on leave. My thanks to the Stage 2 team for giving up time with their families for our YPS fam.
Stage 3 will be enjoying a fun medieval day on Thursday. Many thanks to Mrs Boon and Mr Pullen for organising a fun end-of-term activity for our Stage 3 students.
If you look closely around the school on Thursday you might be in for a big surprise! The teddies are taking over ready for our Teddy Bear’s Picnic with Early Stage 1 students and their parents. I hope you all have a great afternoon and I look forward to seeing the photos! Thanks Mrs Edwards and Miss Hatchell for your organisation.
We kindly ask that parents do not use the school’s entry and exit driveways to perform three-point turns on the road in front of the school. These driveways must remain clear at all times for staff access and emergency vehicle entry. Additionally, they cross a busy pedestrian pathway that students use when arriving at and leaving school. Using these areas to turn around creates a significant safety risk for our students and can cause unnecessary congestion during peak times. We appreciate your support in keeping our school community safe.
Please let our YPS grandparents know about our upcoming Grandparents’ Day assembly. It will be held from 1pm in the hall on Thursday 23 October.
Another date for your diary is World Teacher’s Day on October 31. If your child / family would like to write a message for a teacher in the school, please complete this form: https://forms.gle/1bdS7sTV4e6aH2dKA Messages will be shared with staff on the day. Thank you in advance for your support - I am sure you agree, we have the BEST teachers at YPS!
Thank you once again for your ongoing support throughout the term. We wish all our families a safe and restful break. A reminder that Monday 13 October is a Staff Development Day, and students will return to school on Tuesday 14 October. We look forward to welcoming everyone back for an exciting Term 4!
Kind regards,
Kyleigh Nash
