Computing Applications is a flexible, hands-on course designed to build your confidence and capability in using information and communication technologies. Whether youβre new to computers or want to sharpen your digital skills for life after school, this course offers a practical and engaging learning experience β without the pressure of a final HSC exam.
This subject provides students with the opportunity to explore a variety of real-world computing applications in areas such as multimedia, desktop publishing, databases, spreadsheets, and web design. Youβll gain knowledge of both hardware and software, and develop a better understanding of how technology impacts work, communication, and society.
Across the 12 flexible modules, you can tailor your learning to suit your interests and goals. Example modules include:
Hardware & Software Skills β Understand how computer systems work and develop essential digital skills.
Graphics & Multimedia β Create and edit images, animations, videos and presentations.
Spreadsheets & Databases β Organise, analyse and present data using practical software tools.
Desktop Publishing β Design flyers, newsletters and business documents using advanced formatting tools.
Communications & Web Design β Explore how the internet works and design your own website.
Each module includes a project-based approach, allowing you to apply your learning to real-world scenarios β just like in the tech industry!
There are no HSC exams for Computing Applications. All assessment is conducted internally at school through:
