Qualifying Standards & additional information

Entry to Ryde Zone Swimming:

• Entry to this carnival is through your school Swimming Carnival for Ryde Zone Member Schools.

Age Groups Boys & Girls:

• Medley:

Additional Information:

• First marshaling call at 8:45am and finish by approx 3:00pm.

• Not all events are Timed Finals.

• This is a one start carnival for all competitors. 

  •  Any swimmer starting before the starting signal has been given, will be disqualified and be withdrawn from the event.

• The Carnival will be held under the rules of Swimming New South Wales.

• Schools are asked to be very selective when choosing their team. Please do not send students who swim a form stroke incorrectly, no matter how fast they can swim. 

  • Representatives from NSW Swimming Association will act as carnival referees. 

  • These officials will ensure that if strokes are incorrectly swum, competitors will be disqualified.

• Before schools choose a second swimmer, they must make sure they review the qualifying time and, if the competitor’s time is outside the qualifying time, please leave them out of the team. Remember that all schools are invited to send their first swimmers in all events, whether they meet the qualifying time or not, excluding the medleys and 100m Freestyle events. In the medley and 100m Freestyle events all competitors must meet qualifying times.

• In each event, except medleys and 100m, every school is entitled to enter one swimmer. Each school may then enter a second swimmer if that competitor equals or betters the qualifying time for that event. Each school may enter two competitors in the medley and two in the 100m freestyle events, however, entrants must equal or better the qualifying time for these particular events. Relays- Each school may enter one team per division in boys and girls. (Small schools have their own event).

• Although a child is restricted to compete in only one age group, (except All Age events), there is unrestricted entry in the number of events in which a child may participate at this level of competition.

• Final placings in all races will be decided on times. Please let your competitors know beforehand.
