how has shakespeares romeo and juliet been appropriated to gnomeo and juliet?

Romeo and Juliet is a play written by a famous playwright William Shakespeare. the play is about a tragic love story where the two main characters Romeo and Juliet are supposed to be sworn enemies but fall in love. Due to their families ongoing conflict, they cannot be together, so they end up killing themselves because they cannot cope with being separated from one another. 

gnomeo and Juliet is a child appropriated version of Romeo and Juliet. it is about two garden gnomes that are separated because of their colors as their families are in a feud, an old plastic flamingo helps them see that their love is stronger than the enmity between their gardens. they have to find a way to keep their love a secret.
