Visual arts enables young people to develop an interest in and enjoyment of investigating the world through the ideas, aesthetic and contexts of artists and their work in a broad range of forms, media and styles. Through critical reflection and acquiring understanding, knowledge and skills, students respond by creatively developing their own ideas and artworks.
What students will be doing in the course:
Experimenting with a wide variety of media, techniques, and art forms (such as painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, digital media, or mixed media)
Creating individual artworks that express personal ideas and responses to the world around them
Exploring the practices of artists from different cultures, times, and traditions
Developing visual diaries to document their ideas, experiments, and creative processes
Critically reflecting on and interpreting artworks, including their own and those of others
What sort of students should choose this course:
This course is ideal for students who enjoy being creative, exploring ideas, and expressing themselves visually. It suits those who like hands-on making, experimenting with materials, and investigating how art reflects culture and society.
