The study of dance enables young people to participate in and enjoy exploring the world through dance’s forms and ideas from a variety of historical and contemporary contexts. Students investigate, critically reflect and respond by creating and performing dance, developing their expressive skills through movement.
What students will be doing in the course:
Learning and performing dances in a range of styles and traditions
Creating their own choreography and exploring ways to express ideas through movement
Developing technical skills, strength, and flexibility to support performance
Studying the history and cultural significance of dance across time and place
Reflecting on and evaluating their own and others’ performances and compositions
What sort of students should choose this course?
This course is ideal for students who love movement, creativity, and performance. It suits those who enjoy working collaboratively, expressing ideas physically, and challenging themselves both artistically and physically. Dance is a great choice for students interested in the performing arts, choreography, health and fitness, or simply those who enjoy exploring culture and storytelling through movement.
