Child Studies aims to develop in students the knowledge, understanding and skills to positively influence the wellbeing and development of children in the critical early years in a range of settings and contexts.
What students will be doing in the course:
Exploring the stages of child growth and development, from birth to early childhood
Investigating factors that influence the wellbeing, safety, and health of children
Designing activities, environments, and resources that support children’s learning and play
Developing practical skills in observation, planning, and evaluation of children’s needs
Learning about services, careers, and community support available for children and families
What sort of students should choose this course?
This course is ideal for students who enjoy working with children, are interested in health and wellbeing, or want to understand more about how children grow and learn. It suits students who are caring, creative, and patient, and who like practical, hands-on learning. Child Studies can also be a great pathway for those considering future careers in childcare, teaching, nursing, allied health, or community services.
