Recently, our school hosted the 'Rolling with the Punches' workshop, an initiative aimed at reinforcing the importance of respectful behaviours. This external program provided valuable insights into what respect looks like in our daily interactions and the standards we should uphold for ourselves and others. The workshop emphasised that respect is not just about politeness but also about understanding, empathy, and accountability in all our actions.
A key takeaway from the session was the need to actively combat bullying, especially within our Year 9 cohort. The workshop highlighted that bullying often stems from a lack of understanding and respect for differences. By fostering an environment where empathy and kindness are prioritised, we can create a safer and more inclusive space for everyone.
As we move forward, it's crucial that we all commit to upholding the standards of respectful behaviour discussed in the workshop and embodied in the 4Rs. This includes treating others with kindness, taking responsibility for our actions, showing resilience in the challenges we may face, and building positive relationships. By doing so, we contribute to a school environment where everyone feels valued and supported.
We are excited to celebrate the upcoming Rewards Day for Year 9, it is a special occasion to acknowledge and celebrate the achievements and positive behaviours of our students. To qualify for this event, students are expected to consistently demonstrate the 4Rs: Respect, Responsibility, Resilience, and Reflection. Additionally, maintaining an attendance rate above 90% is a requirement.
