Empowering Youth to Inspire Change - Leadership Workshop
A group of 21 Year 10 students have enrolled for the Empowering Youth to Inspire Change (EYTIC) program this year. The Youth Ambassadors will be taking part in a range of leadership and personal development programs, as well as large-scale projects with a focus on strengthening an inclusive and harmonious community.Â
The first stage, on Wednesday 14th May, was a full-day leadership workshop with Reg Mahoney, former Assistant NSW Police Commissioner and motivational speaker, who guided the students through discussions of goal-setting, emotional resilience and active listening. The students have already demonstrated positivity and enthusiasm and are excited about taking the next steps toward leading projects in the school community.
The next steps for the team include an afternoon discussing stress management and emotional regulation with Headspace, and a Youth Forum with the many local schools also participating in the program. A huge thanks to Reg, Michael and the team at Gymea Community Aid for organising this worthwhile leadership experience for our students.
