Dear Families, Caregivers and Friends
It is hard to believe that we are heading into the last term of the 2025 school year – where has the year gone?
Term 4 is ten weeks of celebration, fun, and exciting opportunities, and we are looking forward to some wonderful learning!
We are delighted to welcome Oscar to our school community! Starting a new school can be both exciting and a little overwhelming, but we are confident that Oscar will quickly feel at home here among friends and supportive staff.
Oscar brings with him a curiosity and enthusiasm for learning that we know will enrich our classrooms.
To Oscar, we say: welcome! We are thrilled to have you join us and look forward to seeing you thrive and grow throughout the year. Here’s to a fantastic start to your journey at our school!
Today, our school turned pink to raise awareness of breast cancer. “Pink Month” refers to Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM), which is in October. It is an annual international campaign to increase awareness of breast cancer, fund research, and support those affected by the disease. The month focuses on public education, early detection, and raising money for treatment and research through events and themed products, with the colour pink and the pink ribbon symbolising support.
Thank you to Mackenzie and her Pink Ladies for coordinating such a fun day!
Our P&C president has asked us to share her message.
Can you believe it’s that time of year again when we start getting everything organised for Christmas? This year has absolutely flown by! I have to say, this is probably my favourite time of year — not only do we get to enjoy time with our families, but it’s also when our P&C begins preparing for one of our favourite fundraisers… the Christmas Raffle!
This year, we’re doing something a little different — we’ll be creating gift card and voucher bouquets!
These will give our lucky winners the chance to enjoy their Christmas break with experiences, meals out, family activities, and so much more.
Here are some ideas for gift cards or vouchers you could donate:
• Movies
• Timezone
• Local restaurants or cafés
• Fuel vouchers
• Scratchies
• Specialty retailers (e.g. Kmart, Coles, BWS, City Beach, EB Games)
• Hobby and craft stores (e.g. Spotlight, Frontline Hobbies, Casey’s Toys)
• Subscription services (e.g. streaming, snack boxes, or book subscriptions)
• Spa or special treatment vouchers
We’re asking for your help in gathering donations of gift cards or vouchers to include in our raffle prizes.
If you’d like to contribute, please contact me directly or email the P&C at hrcspandc@gmail.com.
We’ll be accepting donations until October 28, 2025.
Thank you all for your continued support — every year, our fundraisers grow bigger and better because of you!
Warm regards
The P&C Executive
It’s a busy time of year for schools as we welcome our new enrolments for 2026, support our graduating Year 12 students, and coordinate transitions for our Year 6 students moving to secondary school. Over the next several weeks, there may be some changes to regular class routines as we transition students in and out of HRCS. Thank you for your understanding and support as we help all our students take these important steps in their learning journey.
Spooky fun is coming to our school with the much-anticipated Halloween Disco on Wednesday, 30 October!
All students are invited to dress up in their favourite Halloween costumes and join us for an evening of dancing, fun, and ghostly snacks.
The disco will be held in the school hall from 5:30pm. There will be plenty of music to dance to and yummy snacks available for purchase. It’s a fantastic way to celebrate Halloween with friends and have lots of fun together!
Entry: $5 (includes a lolly bag)
Food: Sausage sizzle, drinks, and ice blocks will be on sale and can be pre-ordered via School Bytes.
Don’t forget to bring your best spooky spirit and get ready for a night full of excitement! We can’t wait to see all your creative costumes and enjoy a fantastic Halloween celebration!
During the holidays, our dedicated P&C held a Bake Stall at Bunnings Maitland — and it was a huge success!
In amazing news, the event raised $1,142.94 in sales!
A huge shout-out to the Guion family, especially Sharon, who baked up a storm! Thank you to Sharna and her team for their incredible efforts.
And thank you to everyone who dropped by the stand to say hi and purchase some delicious snacks!
Amazing effort, team — we are so appreciative of everything you do!
During the recent holidays, we were honoured to have friends and members of the Rotary Club of Maitland Sunrise Inc. volunteer their time to assist with a project in our horticulture plot.
There was lots of mulching, weeding, and small construction repairs undertaken — all designed to have the area ready for the return of students!
Thank you also to our wonderful agriculture enthusiast, Jo, for coordinating the visit and spending so much of her holiday working in the school garden.
We highly value our partnership with the club and appreciate their ongoing generosity, community spirit, and dedication.
Awesome work, team — we think you’re amazing!
Working in partnership with our families and agencies is fundamental when planning learning goals and future steps.
If you have not yet had your Semester 2 parent–teacher meeting, please contact your child’s classroom teacher to organise one as soon as possible. These meetings can be held face-to-face, over the phone, or via Teams.
Thank you in advance!
It’s hard to believe that there are only a few short weeks left for our wonderful Year 12 students. We would like to wish Levi H, Sam, Connor, and Zach T all the very best for an exciting final term of formal education.
There are many wonderful milestone events planned for the term, and we can’t wait to share those highlights with you. Enjoy every moment, Year 12!
We hope everyone has a great week.
