Dear Families, Caregivers and Friends
Welcome back to Term 2 – we hope that everyone enjoyed a break from school routine and had a lovely, restful Easter period. It was wonderful to welcome everyone back to school!
This term we are fortunate to welcome two new teachers to our teaching roster.
Tiffany Mahon has been appointed to the Support Teacher Transition position and is based at our school. Like her predecessor Karen, Tiffany supports students, families and schools across a diverse geographical area.
We warmly welcome Tiffany to our school and look forward to working alongside her in supporting our secondary students. We hope that she enjoys her time at HRCS. Tiffany
This week we also welcomed Shania to our school. Shania, a new career teacher, was appointed by staffing to our school for two days per week. Shania will be working across rooms on Thursday and Friday’s and she is excited to get to know students.
Welcome Shania, we are excited about supporting you through the beginning years as an educator. Shania
Thursday we came together to commemorate ANZAC Day as a school community.
Each class placed a wreath of remembrance and watched a digital representation of what ANZAC means.
After the official proceedings, students had the opportunity to explore military uniforms.
Thank you to Amy for her coordination and John for being our Master of Ceremony. A special thank you to our lovely Louise for providing the memorabilia.
Unfortunately, the inclement weather prohibited our usual flag raising ceremony.
Great work everyone!
During the holidays, we were honoured to participate in the East Maitland ANZAC Service.
Under our new school banner (thank you P &C), our school representatives of Jaspa and Bella marched on behalf of our school and laid a wreath in HRCS’s name.
Thank you to Bella and Jaspa’s families for their participation and support during the proceedings.
A special thank you to staff members John, Tash B and Shelley and their families for supporting our students!
Lest We Forget.
On Wednesday we welcomed the amazing team from MSP to our school for our annual School Photo Day. We are so fortunate to have Phil and his team as our photographers, as they know our school, context and students. Their patience and understanding ensured that staff could try and capture the perfect shot!
I have previewed the proofs, and they have done an amazing job!
Great smiling everyone!
Throughout the term, you may receive a School Bytes notification about some modifications to our current medical and health procedures. These reviews have originated from policy recommendations and our internal audit of current practices.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to staff. Thank you for your support in this matter.
You may be aware that NSW Department of Education has released a new policy that focuses on reporting to families. From Semester 1, we are introducing updated school reports for our primary cohort.
The modified format has been developed to align with the NSW Department of Education guidelines, in response to feedback from parents and educators to make reports easier to read and understand.
Your child’s report will still show their progress across all subject areas. Teacher comments will appear in English, Mathematics and the general comment, as well as Personalised Learning Goals.
Our secondary reports will resemble the format seen last Semester.
We look forward to your feedback in Term 3!
Next week will be a celebration of the wonderful women in our lives.
Our annual Mother’s Day High Tea will be held on Thursday 8 May, commencing at 11:00am. A School Bytes notification has been sent out, and we would greatly appreciate a RSVP to enable food and dietary needs to be met.
On Friday May 9, a limited number of floral arrangements will be available for pre-order and purchase. Once again, orders can be made through School Bytes.
Our annual Mother’s Day stall will also be held next Friday. All students will be provided with an opportunity to ‘shop’ for the perfect gift. Details about ‘shopping’ amounts, will be sent home early this week.
Looking forward to a great term of learning.
Have a wonderful week.
