Through the study of Music in Stage 6 students will be provided with the opportunity to acquire knowledge, skills, understanding and attitudes within a broad musical context and encourage the desire to continue learning in formal and informal music settings after school. It provides students with opportunities to engage in a range of musical styles, including contemporary popular music, and for many, it will serve as a pathway for further training and employment in the music industry or in contemporary music fields.
The music faculty at DHSVAD offers both Music 1 and Music 2 courses at the Stage 6 level. Students may only select one as part of their study in years 11 and 12. Music Extension is additionally offered as a one unit course for Music 2 candidates in Year 12.
