FAQ's

How many units can I study?

• In Year 11/Preliminary, you must complete the study of  12 units (Studying 13 + 14 units is a challenging load; however, this is dependent on the student’s organisational skills and studiousness)

• In Year 12, you must study 10 units (but can continue studying more)

Can I select Extension English or Mathematics?

• Yes, you can make this selection in the second column of the Subject Selection platform; however, speak to your teacher about the appropriateness of the course first.

How can I study a language?

• You can select from either Japanese, Italian or French being offered at our school

• Saturday classes at the Secondary College of Languages

• Distance Education with NSW School of Languages. Please note with this option:

Distance Education is not for everyone. You need to be an organised and disciplined student for the independent learning style of Distance Education

There are limited places and as such, the school will prioritise students who have previously studied a language.

How many major works is too many?

Being a Visual Arts and Design high school means that we have many students wanting to do multiple courses with major works. This is challenging for even the most talented of our creative students and requires discipline and organisation. Students wishing to undertake more than 2 major works may be advised to reconsider, based on their Year 10 commitment to learning.

Can I select more than one VET subject?

• Only ONE externally; however, you can study more than one at school.

VET – Important information.

•  Most TVET courses (ones offered at TAFE) are 2 units

• All VET courses offered at Dulwich (Retail, Entertainment, Construction) are 2 units and can be included in your ATAR

• SBAT (School-based apprenticeships and traineeships) can be 4 units

• Students attending TAFE on a Tuesday afternoon will need to complete a trail period before being able to drop a course at school)
