Laptop policy (Bring Your Own Device)

All students are required to bring a laptop every day. Information communication technology capability is required to engage in our modern society, and software is often used to enhance learning opportunities. 

BYOD recommendations:

Operating System

• Windows 10/11 for Windows devices 

• Mac OS 11 +

RAM (Memory)

8GB or higher preferably

Video Card

Preferably 2GB or higher

Battery Life

8 -10 hours or higher battery life

Anti-Virus Software

Is highly recommended must be up to date software

Software /Applications

Microsoft, Google and Adobe all have Service Level Agreements to provide students with free range of software. All available via student portal.

Other

• Protective Case/Sleeve, USB for external storage

• Head Set / compatible headphones

Note

These are basic recommendations/ requirements. Students that do TAS designs /Art require higher device specifications to perform accordingly. Basic devices fail to keep up with resource demanding software such as Adobe illustrator/Photoshop. Unity and Fusion 360.

Please try to stay away from iPad /Tablet and Chromebook devices, as these devices are limited to what they can do.
