Better Health for Individuals - examines the meanings of health, the perceptions individuals have about health and the range of factors and behaviours that influence health.
Students are introduced to health promotion and investigate approaches and strategies that can assist individuals to achieve better health.
The Body in Motion - Examines the scientific foundations of human movement. In this module, students explore how the body moves and why it moves in particular ways. Students focus on the relationships between anatomy, physiology, fitness, biomechanics and efficient human movement.
First Aid - students engage in the investigation and practical application of the major assessment and management techniques for the types of injury and medical conditions that require first aid attention.Students are also offered the opportunity to attain their First Aid certification - A highly desirable qualification for young people seeking employment.
Fitness Choices - examines the exercise options that are available to meet the varying fitness needs of individuals. In this module, students investigate what exercise means to different people and the factors that influence exercise choices.
Health Priorities in Australia - This module continues on and revisits Core 1 from year 11. It examines the health status of Australians and investigates, in depth, the current health priority issues in Australia. Students identify and justify the choice of priority issues and examine the roles that the health system and health promotion play in achieving better health for all Australians.
Factors Affecting Performance - In this module, students explore the physical and psychological bases of performance. They experience and critically analyse approaches to training and skill development and investigate the contributions of psychology, nutrition and recovery strategies to performance. This again uses prior learning from the Year 11 unit 'The Body in Motion'.
Sports Medicine - Revisits some of the principals addressed in First Aid (Year 11) and explores specific issues of prevention, assessment, management of and recovery from sports injury.
Improving Performance - Extends on and revisits the learning from 'Factors Affecting Performance'. The focus shifts slightly to allow students the opportunity to experience and analyse a variety of training methods and look at the application of these methods to improving performance.
With multiple areas of content reapplied and revisited, it provides students with the potential to gain a deep understanding of course content.
