This course is designed to introduce the student to employment and educational opportunities within the outdoor recreation industry by providing real work skills. The focus of the course is on developing the skills, knowledge and confidence to work in the industry.
Students will develop their leadership and organisational skills through theory and practical sessions, the workplace during their work placement and on camps.
This course is developed give you the skills and knowledge to safely participate and guide participants in many outdoor activities.

Rock climbing Abseiling
Cycling Mountain Biking
Bushwalking Navigation
Some enrichment activities are:
Scuba diving Archery
Canyoning Whitewater kayaking
Most importantly this course is fun! And we spend lots of time offsite completing our practical components.
This is the course to choose for fun in year 11 and if you want you can continue in year 12. You do not need to have your nose in a book all the time.
The competencies earned throughout this course enables you to work anywhere in Australia and even opens opportunities around the world. Imagine working your way around the world, seeing the sights.
The outdoor industry is growing, there is over 65,000 people working in the outdoor recreation industry in Australia.
If you enjoy the outdoors, then this course is for you. All practical competencies are completed offsite. This means we go on lots of excursions. We even had a Tasmania trip planned until restrictions were put in place.
Assessment tasks are completed in school, not at home.
After successful completion, you may wish to continue studying and complete a certificate iii, iv or diploma. Or apply for roles such as:
outdoor guide
outdoor instructor
site manager
camp facilitator
specialist activity instructor
tour guide.
You may also wish to continue your studies at university with a large range of degrees such as:
Environmental Science
Geology
Marine Biology
Engineering
plus many more.
