This term in Visual Arts, Level 2 and Level 3 artists have been studying the landscape genre, exploring the works of Claude Monet, Vincent van Gogh and Howard Arkley. Students have learned new art-making techniques including atmospheric and linear perspective, creating the illusion of depth in their compositions. For their assessment task this term, students were inspired by places of significance. Students used collage and painting techniques to create textured landscape artworks of houses they have lived in, beaches they have visited and famous landmarks like Colombia's El Peñón de Guatapé, Peru's Macchu Picchu and the Great Wall of China. Their artworks reflect parts of their identity and sparked conversations between each other about where they have been and why certain places are special to them. Students should be very proud of their beautiful artworks.
Sunset by Isla (3B)
This artwork shows the sea of flowers at sunset. I chose this because I often pass by there in the evening after school. In the picture, you can see the lake surface reflects all the beautiful scenery around. I used bright acrylic paint to show lake surface. When I look at this artwork, I feel quietness and beauty. Also, I will remember the leisurely and pleasant after-school time.
The Golden Bridge by Vanessa Le (3B)
This artwork is the famous bridge "The Golden Bridge" in Vietnam. I chose this place because this bridge is the symbol of my hometown. In the picture you can see the sunset, mountains and the bridge with the two hands holding it. I used the light colour to show the bridge and the two hands. When I look at this artwork, I remember my hometown.
My Safe Place by Ammy (3B)
This artwork shows a quiet place. I chose this place because the beach has helped me clear my thoughts and make important decisions. In the picture, you can see the waves reaching the shore and the vegetation around them. I used a lot of green to show the nature. This place makes me feel calm and safe.
