Sensory Garden Rocks
Our Kindergarten students have had a fantastic start to the year! They are doing an amazing job learning our school expectations, embracing the YPS Way, and making new friends. One of our special beginning-of-school traditions is painting two rocks per student, one to take home in Kindy and one to be proudly displayed in our sensory garden in the playground. This special rock will stay at school until the end of Year 6, when students take it home as a reminder of their journey at YPS. We had so much fun getting creative and painting our rocks, and we can’t wait for a wonderful year of learning and growing together!
We are so proud of our wonderful Year 6 buddies and the incredible way they have supported their Kindergarten buddies this year. From the very beginning, our Kindy students have looked up to their “big buddies” with smiles, excitement and lots of admiration. The friendships that have grown between them have been truly special to see.
As part of our buddy program, the Year 6 students wrote their very own books all about starting school especially for their new Kindergarten buddy. They put so much care and thought into their writing, creating stories to help their buddies feel safe, confident and excited about school. Before the books were sent home, the Year 6 buddies had the opportunity to read them aloud to their Kindergarten buddy, making the experience even more meaningful.
Our Kindergarten students absolutely loved sharing this moment with their big buddies and were so proud to take their special book home. This beautiful activity showed the kindness, leadership and responsibility of our Year 6 students and the strong connections formed across our school. We couldn’t be prouder of both groups and the positive relationships they have built together.
