About Us
Inspired by a Dungog woman’s feature documentary about youth activism in Australia [Michelle Dado-Millynn’s “The Power of Activism”] students of Cooks Hill Campus came up with a project that was selected as 1 of 8 schools from around Australia to be involved in a Documentary Australia / Australian Teachers of Media (ATOM) resource that will be distributed into all schools in 2026. The Conservation Critters project will be a series of seasonal guided walks and picnics [based on the Awabakal calendar]. (Subsequently its development and implementation will be filmed for a future documentary.)
Through the power of volunteers, recycling and research we have launched our project at Newcastle Museum’s Future Street Party. Distributing seed bombs, wooden and clay bee and bug hotels and signing people up for the walks, we also hosted a screening of ‘The Power of Activism’ documentary.
Find out about the next screening of THE POWER OF ACTIVISM.
We hope it inspires you as much as it inspired us!
