Volunteering & Community Service Program

Volunteering is time willingly given for the common good and without financial gain. It is a choice made by you to make a difference. Volunteering is about supporting non-profits or community groups by willingly giving your time, skills and enthusiasm to become involved and take action on issues that are important to you.

Up to 85% of employers believe volunteering to be just as credible as paid work.

92% of employers said that relevant volunteering experience gives candidates an edge in job interviews. It’s a great talking point that can help you make a connection with a potential employ*

When you volunteer you develop skills in an authentic and powerful way. This happens when you volunteer as you learn, plan and reflect. In this way, you might develop your:

  • empathy

  • collaboration

  • leadership

  • critical and creative thinking

  • ethical reflection

  • respectful communication.

Volunteering supports your learning and wellbeing. Volunteering gives you a way to:

  • develop social skills

  • explore possible career options

  • find their purpose and help others

  • connect with people in their community

  • increase their self-understanding, independence and confidence.

Within the school students have the opportunity to volunteer their time and skills in a variety of areas including the SRC, music productions and performances, open night, breakfast club, fundraising events and the environmental team to name just a few.
