What is information fluency?

Information fluency is the ability to critically think while engaging with, creating, and utilizing information and technology, regardless of the information platform or medium. The student is viewed as both a creator and consumer of content.

The skills in the Information Fluency Framework are (mainly) found in the general capabilities, of the Australian Curriculum which is now incorporated into every learning area syllabus. These are presented in each curriculum as distinct skills in order to categorize and describe them. In reality, these skills are developed and used together. For example, students will use technologies and critical thinking to select information and clarify their ideas.
