The Gadigal are saltwater people who lived on the abundant resources found in the rivers and the harbour between Sydney Cove (now known as Circular Quay) and Watsons Bay. There is evidence to suggest they have been in this region for at least 60,000 before the arrival of Captain Arthur Phillip and the First Fleet.
The Gadigal people most likely spoke the Dharug language.
