In the Music I Course, students will learn about the CONCEPTS Of MUSIC within a RANGE OF CONTEXTS
through the learning experiences of PERFORMANCE, AURAL, COMPOSITION & MUSICOLOGY.
You will be required to study SIX topics from an extensive list, three in the Preliminary course and three in the HSC Course.
It is not a pre-requisite to have completed Music as an elective in Stage 5, or to be able to read music, but it is advised that you already have previous experience and skills on a given instrument so that we can focus on improving and building the skills you bring to the class.
The course will provide you with the opportunity to engage in a range of musical styles and will serve as a pathway for future music studies. Even if a career in music is not in sight, studying Music will build discipline, persistence and patience.
