In Visual Arts, students explore the world through their own artistic lens. They blend creativity with skill-building, crafting imagery that reflects their unique perspectives. This course goes beyond simply making art; it fosters confidence through self-evaluation and encourages personal growth. By delving into artists' concepts and the artmaking process, students refine their ability to express ideas through writing. In essence, Visual Arts offers not just a platform for creativity but a pathway to deeper insight and self-assurance.
What will students learn about?
In Visual Arts, students embark on a comprehensive exploration of art creation, criticism, and history. They investigate the dynamic relationship between artist, artwork, world, and audience, exploring diverse perspectives through subjective, structural, cultural, and post-modern frameworks.
The Preliminary course offers a broad foundation, combining practical experiences with historical and critical studies. Students refine their skills across various media and engage in experimental exploration. They analyze artworks and artists, delving into social, political, and historical themes while mastering formalized writing about art.
In the Higher School Certificate year, students deepen their investigation through case studies and the creation of a unique Body Of Work. Themes such as identity, global issues, and cultural significance provide rich avenues for personal exploration. Throughout, students maintain a Process Diary to document and refine their ideas, culminating in a formal examination that celebrates their artistic growth and achievement.
