At Bronte Public School, we pride ourselves in creating a caring and nurturing environment. It starts before your child walks in on their first day of school.
Your child will be allocated a Year 6 Buddy who will take them by the hand and support them throughout the year.
Buddies assist with:
eating lunch
playing
making new friends
support in the class
checking in with social and emotional welfare
Your child will receive a letter from their buddy before the end of the school year. Children will meet their buddies in person during the second transition session.
On their first day of Kindergarten, your child's buddy will be there to meet and greet them and help them move to the classroom. Buddies will support during breaks to make connections and finish the day with an activity together.

I just wanted to write a note and give you some lovely feedback on the year 6 / kindergarten buddy program and more specifically on Billy, Harrys buddy.
Harry has no older siblings and to be honest was pretty intimidated by older children when starting school. His buddy Billy Singleton has been an absolute god send for him. Harry adores him and he has made the transition into school a lot easier for Harry.
Harry plays Rugby union on the Saturday mornings on 8.30am in Maroubra, last Saturday Billy and his Dad made a special trip to the fields just to watch Harry play. Harry was so thrilled and Shane and I couldn’t believe that they would make that effort to support him. What a wonderful boy Billy is and we wanted to make you aware of how he went over and above to support his little buddy Harry.
The Buddy Program
