Adam Goodes was born on January 8th 1980 in South Australia, Wallaroo. His mother was Lisa May who was Aboriginal and of Adnyamathanha and Narungga people. She was a part of the Stolen Generation. His father was Graham Goodes who's nationality was a mix of English, Irish and Scottish. Adam Goodes was insulted for his mixed background. His mother and father divorced when he was 4 years old and his mum raised Adam and his 2 younger brothers, Brett and Jake. Adam's dad moved to Mackay in Queensland and the rest of Adam's family moved between Adelaide and Wallaroo.
Beginnings of AFL
Adam Goodes first began playing Australian Rules Football in school. When he was 16 he joined the under 18s North Ballarat Rebels. 2 years later he was drafted by the Sydney Swans into the Australian Football League (AFL). He was the 43rd pick.
