Through this learning sequence, students will explore self-awareness and the many and varied contextual factors that can influence their feelings, behaviours, decisions and actions. Students will gain an understanding of concepts that will support their own ability to connect, include and empower yourself and others to be engaged in physical activity to support their health, safety and wellbeing during challenging situations, with a particular focus on the current global health issue COVID-19.
Learning intentions
During these lessons, students will:
examine how contextual factors influence attitudes and behaviours towards health, wellbeing and physical activity
investigate how physical activity can support inclusion and connection
analyse how goal setting and self-reflection can positively impact health and wellbeing.
Success criteria for the overall sequence
Identify a range of influence on their decisions, actions and attitudes in relation to health and physical activity.
Design an activity to include others and promote a lifetime of physical activity.
Participate in physical activity and reflect on how it can support them to improve their self-management, interpersonal and movement skills.

During this lesson, students will recognise how physical activity can support inclusion and foster connection during times where they may feel isolated or lonely. They will design their own activity and use it to foster connections to improve emotional, physical, mental and social wellbeing for self and others.
