Through this lesson, you will participate in physical activity and reflect on how it can support you to improve your self-management, interpersonal and movement skills. Development of these skills promote positive connections, health and wellbeing.

Ensure that you are feeling well and free from sickness before you engage in any type of physical activity.
Participation should be isolated activities that can be performed within the home or if they have access to a back yard.
Check the Common questions about the rules page on the nsw.gov.au website for consistent and updated advice.
If it is safe and you are physically meeting, ensure that you are meeting to align with the Covid Safe rules for your LGA.
If it unsafe to do so, set this goal to achieve in an individual setting such as your back yard or individually indoors, with an opportunity to report back to each other.
Choose and invite an exercise buddy, or a group to connect with. This can be a family member, or someone you live with.
Tell them about your activity you designed in Lesson 2.
If possible, run the activity for both of you to participate in.
Use the Modified physical activity assessment (buddy) to seek feedback.
Based on your own assessment and your buddy’s feedback, is there anything you could adjust or change to better meet the task design criteria included in the checklist. Record your changes in your PDHPE workbook and justify the reasons for the changes.

Goals that you set are to be realistic and should reflect your current needs. They should be clear and provide enough challenge so that you can see and feel improvements in various domains of your health and wellbeing. For example, physical, emotional, mental or social aspects of your life.
Setting achievable and measurable goals is important to ensure you will be successful with committing to a regular physical activity plan. Engaging in regular physical activity will improve your overall health and wellbeing.
Use Worksheet – lesson three – fostering connectedness through being physically active to:
record at least three physical activity goals for term 4 2021. These might include being physically active every day, meeting a certain distance within a time frame, meeting a target related to your physical activity.
create a physical activity diary. Record or log your activity in table. Include the type of activity and the amount of time you were engaged in the activity. This will assist you to make judgements on achievement of your goals or changes which need to be made to your goals.

Self-reflection allows you to consider how you feel and what you have learnt as a result of participating in an activity. This encourages you to consider ways that you have seen growth in your own knowledge, skills and abilities.
Based on your physical activity goals, participate in physical activity at least three times in the week. Complete a reflection at the end of the week.

For example, made me feel good about myself, changed the idea I have of myself to be more positive, supported my ability to keep going with tasks I would normally not engage with, allowed me to be more aware of what I value what influences me as well as my strengths and weaknesses, helped me with a more positive attitude and keep going even if it is hard.
How did participating in physical activity use or improve your interpersonal skills?
For example, respected others’, helped me to collaborate and positively support others, made me feel a sense of belonging, improved my feelings of being connected and included, helped me see my strengths and assess things more effectively and in a positive way, allowed me to be more empathetic towards myself and others, allowed me to own and lead my own physical activity routine, enabled me to stay motivated to continue, bringing me happiness and joy, changed my ability to see others views and perspectives more clearly.
How did participating in physical activity use or improve your movement skills?
For example, improved my ability to plan and monitor my movement to promote health and fitness, I managed risk and participated safely in physical activity situations, allowed me to regulate my emotions during and in between physical activity experiences.
