Our Alpaca Program is available in a variety of models:

Science/Fibre/Art Immersion Program - Full Day and Half Day options- Stages 3/4
Overview
Focusing on the concepts of alpaca farming in Australia and its links to fibre and meat production. Students will learn about the difference between an alpaca and a llama, how alpacas communicate, animal husbandry linked to breeding and caring for alpacas, the characteristics of alpaca fleece and production of alpaca products. The workshop includes an Agfacts session, an introduction to Alpaca farming from our Junior Journalist and Alpaca farmer– Bradley (think BTN). Students will then engage in a science-based workshop linked to the properties of alpaca fibre before commencing a hands-on process of turning alpaca fibre into felt.

Full Day : approx 9.30am—2.30pm .
1/2 Day : approx 9.00am - 11.30am and 12pm - 2.30pm ( Felting Workshop and General Introduction to Alpacas)
Cost
DoE Schools Full Day- $600/class (Max 30 students) 1/2 Day - $400/class ( Max 30 students)
Non DoE Schools: Full day programs only $700.

Design Thinking Hackathon Day - Full Day only - Stages 3/4
Take your student’s current learning to the next level with a focus on sustainable Fashion.
Students will work through an intense day and prototyping using Design Thinking principles.
Students will apply their theoretical and scientific knowledge to a community focused inquiry question and begin imagining possible solutions.

The process ensures every student has a voice through collective imagineering.
Students develop their team work skills through structured negotiations, constructive feedback and prototyping.
Gain consensus on the direction of your group project.
The day allows for clear categorisation and testing ideas against known parameters allowing groups to gain consensus and a clear project direction.

Alpaca Adventures: Stages 1 and 2 Half Day only
Overview
Join in an alpaca adventure with Macca, where he overcomes obstacles in unexpected ways. Then explore a real-life alpaca farmstead and learn how to keep alpacas healthy and happy. Learn about alpaca fleece and how alpacas can be a sustainable option in Australian agriculture. Complete an art/craft activity linked to alpacas.
