MBA Research State's Connection Resource Portal is available to Kentucky teachers providing free tools, content, and resources based on Kentucky's Level 3 Enhanced Membership. A Tour of State's Connection video is a 3-minute tour of State's Connection and provides a brief overview of what educators will find.
The Kentucky Pathway Standards Teacher Guides were created by MBA Research in partnership with the Kentucky Department of Education and are available to download from the Kentucky Member Benefits section.
The Teacher Guides are unique to each pathway and crosswalk to the Learning Activity Packages (LAPs) for effective lesson planning. They provide teachers with a deeper understanding of the Kentucky Occupational Standards that should be taught for students to successfully pass the end-of-program (EOP) assessments.
While they focus on occupational standards only, they are designed to support industry-validated performance indicators and point classroom teachers to LAPs. However, educators will notice gaps and will need to evaluate curriculum not available through MBA Research. Using the performance indicators and objectives listed will offer guidance when vetting supplemental curricula.
Use the Teacher Guide performance indicators to:
Evaluate the rigor of supplemental resources;
Help students identify areas of opportunities;
Provide a roadmap for instruction that meets the needs of students; and
Support student accountability in developing knowledge and skills.
Additional support for utilizing MBA Research Curriculum Resources and/or Kentucky State's Connection portal is available. Classroom teachers can email Angela Rush to schedule a time to explore and unwrap the resources that can enhance your classroom instruction.

4/28/23How would you answer?
The Gray Zone ethical dilemmas from our Learning Activity Packages (LAPs) introduce students to problems and situations that don’t have one specific right or wrong answer. Use the following prompt from LAP-PD-126 Ideas in Action (Innovation Skills) to explore one dilemma related to the positives and negatives of innovation:
Shia, an engineer at a factory, is building an automated machine that will change the way his company makes its products. The company is depending on Shia’s engineering talent to increase production by 50%. The new machine will save the company a ton of money and increase profits.
However, it will also eliminate the jobs of many people who work on the factory floor. While Shia is reviewing his blueprints for the machine, he discovers away to redesign it for an even larger production increase of 70%. Shia wants to help his company be the best it can be, but he also doesn’t want to see even more dedicated employees lose their jobs.
Discussion Questions:
1. Should Shia redesign the machine for the biggest increase in production?
2. Are lost jobs just one of the collateral costs of innovation?
3. Do the positives of innovation always outweigh the negatives?
