Gyeltshen House claimed the second position, impressing the judges with their well-structured arguments.
Dhug House finished in the third position, demonstrating their dedication and commitment to the competition.
Importance of Debate Competitions: Debate competitions are of immense importance for several reasons:
Critical Thinking: Debates encourage students to think critically, analyze information, and form well-reasoned arguments. This skill is invaluable in various aspects of life, from problem-solving to decision-making.
Communication Skills: Participants learn how to articulate their thoughts clearly and persuasively. Effective communication is a vital skill in both personal and professional contexts.
Research Abilities: Debaters must conduct thorough research to support their arguments. This fosters a habit of seeking information and staying informed about important issues.
Confidence Building: Public speaking can be daunting, but debates provide a safe space for students to overcome their fear and gain confidence in expressing their views.
Cultural and Language Promotion: Dzongkha debate competitions, in particular, help preserve and promote Bhutan's rich cultural and linguistic heritage.
Conclusion: The Inter-House Dzongkha Debate Competition on September 30th was not just a competition but a platform for students to develop essential life skills. It showcased the talent and dedication of our students in the realm of debate. These skills will undoubtedly serve them well in their academic journeys and beyond. We congratulate all participants and look forward to more intellectually stimulating events in the future.
