Chundu Middle Secondary School was opened on 11th March 2014. The school was constructed to upgrade Gyensa Primary School since there was no enough space for constructions. The construction began from July 2010 under Government of India funding. It was opened to accommodate students coming from Yangthang, Gyensa, Hatey, Tokey, Talung, Jamtey Goenpa and Damthang.
The school was built on the land given by the community to the Education Sector as the community has concern for their children’s education. The school is located on the beautiful landscapes about 32.219 acres of land under Bji Gewog.
Our school was identified as the central school for Haa Dzongkhag 2015 and since then we have been receiving the central school entitlements. In the year 2016 the management of our school was identified to be handed over to the Royal Bhutan Army. Therefore on 29th March, 2016 a Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between Goongleon Gongma Batoo Tshering and Sherig Lyonpo Mingbo Dukpa in the presence of Honorable Prime Minister. With the taking over of the school management by RBA we will be enrolling children of three Armed Forces and Civilians at the raito of 75:25 based on merit. With the start of 2017 academic session we have also started boarding facilities to fulfill the clauses in the memorandum.
On 25th April 2017 the management of the school was formally handed over to Royal Bhutan Army. The handing taking was signed between the Director General, Department of School Education for Ministry of Education and Colonel Jigmy Dorji, Senior Instructor, Royal Bhutan Army, Haa for Royal Bhutan Army in the presence of Dasho Dzongrab.
