The Liceo Vitruvio is one of the largest General Education Upper Secondary School in Abruzzo with students aged 14-19, providing both scientific and humanistic subjects. Our aim is to motivate students and teachers through a series of key actions based on international, innovative and digital teaching approaches. Our teachers have been training in foreign languages and in active learning approaches as CLIM, CLIL, PBL and recently SBL. Thanks to different National
Projects, we have now the possibility of two special classrooms (3.0 and 4.0) to be used by teachers and students for a more participated and autonomous learning, developing students’ critical thinking and realizing a full inclusive teaching.
We are involved in different projects, both Italian and international:
The Science Week, based on active, cooperative and CLIL approaches where Italian and foreign students are protagonists and interact directly with the visitors showing their labs
International CLIL courses held by Peeter Mehisto in partnership with CLILedu-FI
Work-related learning projects
Erasmus+ projects: many Ka101 and Ka219, where we were the coordinators
Our motivation to join this project is to give our students and teachers the opportunity to learn from other schools and international students. The project is promising in the sense that uses active methodologies and a STEM approach to some of the activities. As a school we would like to increase the number of teachers that bring students to the centre of the activities that take place in the classroom and to learn to implement STEM projects
There is a commited group of teachers that are in charge of coordinating international events, who have experienced European partnerships, and really believe in team work to disseminate the results and the know-how of the projects, involving school and community in the benefits of cooperation and inclusion.
