Our pupil action groups (also known as committees or pupil voice groups) were given a refresh and kicked off in style on Tuesday 20th February. Our groups consist of P1s-P7s all working co-operatively together to have their voices heard. Pupil voice is a key part of the education experience at West Barns, and is enshrined in Scottish law by the UNCRC articles. As a school on our Rights Respecting School journey, we will be making sure all children are aware and understand their rights.
The children focused article 28 - I have the right to an education and 29 - I have the right to an education which develops my personality, respect for others rights and the environment.
This week our PAGs created #KAIRS bunting to highlight our values of Kindness, Ambition, Inclusion, Respect and Safe. This will be displayed in the gym/dinner hall. The children also learned a new song KAIRS to the tune of D-I-S-C-O! We will be revisiting this song at assemblies as well as throughout the week.
