We are a newly established, pupil led group that exists to ensure that Ross High School is an inclusive and welcoming community for all - pupils, staff, parents and the wider community.
We have identified that within wider society, there has been a rise in misogynist and racist attitudes and we believe that these attitudes have no place within our community.
As a group we are working to dispel common myths and educate our community on how best to tackle these attitudes, should we encounter them in the school.
Last session, we used the theme of The Power of Your Voice provided by Show Racism the Red Card, we successfully ran a House Competition - all pupils were tasked with submitting an entry that demonstrated the Racism had no place in our school and how our voices are the most powerful tool in stopping racist views from spreading. We had over 500 entries between all the Houses, with Team Seton declared the overall winners. To see the winning entries for each House, and some special mentions, please see below.
This academic year, as part of Black History Month, a group of S6 pupils created a series of short lessons about the issue of Racism - what is it and how can we combat it in the school if we see it happening.
As part of Black History Month, 8 of our S6 pupils (Jon McVay, Alex Archer, Murron Campbell, Hannah McNeill, Abi Black, Elise Hilton, Aiden Uy and Jakub Rekowski) created a series of 4 short videos, designed to explain what racism is and how it has no place within the school and wider community.

Members of the group are currently working to host a Cultural Diversity Day to celebrate the wide range of cultures that exist in the school. They are in the process of reaching out to a variety of consulates and embassies, with the hope that they will be able to help showcase the cultures that are represented in the school.
A small group are currently working on a video campaign as part of the White Ribbon Campaign - keep an eye out for a video soon.
Alongside this, we have a dedicated team who are reaching out to organisations within the charity section who could be potential partners in our attempts to stem the rise of misogynistic views.
