Students have access to free online storage for all of their school work. This also links in with resources shared with students via Google Classroom. Everything can be found on Google Drive.
Students can either view their storage by going to https://drive.google.com in a web browser, or by downloading the app for their mobile device.
Students have access to two main areas of file storage: My Drive and Shared Drives.
To create or upload files to the currently chosen storage location, they should click on the + New button.
This is where students should save their own files. They have full read/write access to files in this drive. Ideally they should organise work for different subjects into specific folders. Students are taken through this process in their S1 and S2 ICT classes.
They will also see a Classroom folder. Any Google Docs added to assignments set in Google Classroom will be available in this folder, even after leaving a Google Classroom.
When staff share resources with students, they will be saved in this shared drive. Pupils can view any files in this shared drive, however, they are not able to edit them. If they want to edit a file found in this folder (e.g. a student workbook), they can open the file and from the File menu, they can select 'Make a copy' and save it to their own My Drive
