Pupils are encouraged to use Google Classroom as a resource to assist them both in the classroom and at home. Teachers can use Google Classroom to send announcements to entire classes, share resources, course notes, Google Slide/PowerPoints, diagrams, and home study tasks. Pupils can use it to access work covered in class anywhere they have internet access from a PC or mobile device. You can think of Google Classroom as a virtual classroom that allows remote working and allows pupils to manage deadlines and access resources at any time or place.
Students can use Google Classroom using a web browser on a PC/Mac/Chromebook by visiting https://classroom.google.com
Alternatively they can download the app for their mobile device. We also recommend downloading Google Chrome, Google Drive, Google Docs and Google Slides apps.
Parents and guardians do not use Google Classroom directly, so should not install the app. Instead guardians are invited to receive Google Guardian Summaries which are an email digest of the work posted in the student's classrooms.
The school will send an invitation to guardians that we have contact email addresses for. You can receive these using any email address, although you will need to have or create a Google account if you want to edit the settings of these emails (e.g. if you want to receive them daily rather than weekly).
You can find out more by visiting Google's FAQ page
You can also view the information that is sent to guardians early in S1:
