Bonhomme Carnaval on February 4 – Volunteer Support Requested
Our fourth annual Bonhomme Carnaval will take place on Wednesday, February 4. To ensure the success of this event, we are seeking parent volunteers to assist throughout the day. A variety of activity stations will be set up outside across the schoolyard. Activities will be organized and materials will be set out in advance so your job will be to run the assigned activity when classes rotate through the stations.
The event will run from 9:00am to 2:00pm (arrive at 8:30am). Volunteers play an essential role in making this experience enjoyable and successful for our students. If you are able to volunteer, please email me, and we would be pleased to assign you a role for the day.
We are also looking for firewood as we will have a supervised fire for students to warm up by as they enjoy fresh maple syrup - tire sur neige.
Please email shayla.mcritchie@sturgeon.ab.ca if you are able to donate your time or fire wood.
I will be in contact with all volunteers via email on Monday Feb. 2 with more details.
Thank you in advance!
Shayla McRitchie and Lauren Rutherford
Frosty Feathers Club — Fresh Air and Fun!
This winter we’ll be launching our Frosty Feathers Club— a fun way for students to embrace winter and get fresh air outdoors! These are often called Polar Bear Clubs, which encourage kids to enjoy supervised outdoor play even in colder weather as long as they are dressed warmly (layers, winter coat, snow pants, boots, mitts, and a toque).
The idea is to build physical literacy and resilience by celebrating winter, rather than solely avoiding it.
Permission forms for interested students will be sent out soon!
IMMUNIZATION - GRADE NINE PARENT INFORMATION
Grade 9 immunizations are scheduled for Wednesday, January 28th, 2026, at school. Your child’s immunization consent package will be sent home with them yesterday. Each student has been assessed and provided consent forms for the vaccines that they are eligible for. Please read the information in the package, then sign EACH consent form (there is one consent form per vaccine) and return them to school as soon as possible.
ALL consent forms must be returned, regardless of whether or not your child is being immunized. If you are choosing not to have your child immunized, please follow the refusal instructions contained in the package.
For any questions or concerns regarding your child’s immunizations, please feel welcome to call me at 780-460-4746.
Thank you,
Jennifer S, RN
