SHINYOUNG KWAG @ Hanbat National University

Shinyoung Kwag received a Bachelor’s of Civil Engineering from Sungkyunkwan University, South Korea in 2005 and a Master of Science degree from the Department of Civil Engineering at Seoul National University in 2010 (under supervision of Dr. Hyun-Moo Koh). During the Master’s program, he also worked as an instructor at Awassa TVET College in Ethiopia for three years as part of KOICA (Korea International Cooperation Agency) volunteer program. Following the graduation from Master’s program, he worked for four years at the research reactor division of KAERI (Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute) as a senior researcher. In August 2013, he joined the graduate school at North Carolina State University to pursue a doctoral degree (under supervision of Dr. Abhinav Gupta). During his time at NC State University, he worked as a research assistant in the CNEFS (Center for Nuclear Energy Facilities and Structures), a teaching assistant for “CE527: Structural Dynamics” & "CE724: Probabilistic Concepts in Structural Engineering", and an instructor for “CE324: Structural Behavior and Measurements Laboratory”. He completed Ph.D. in 2016. From 2016 to 2019, he has again worked for KAERI as a senior researcher. For now, he is working for Hanbat National University (HBNU) as an associate professor.
