Risk Assessment and Improvement for Structures and Systems (RAISS)

The research interests of our lab. are in the areas of structural dynamics, probabilistic risk assessment, engineering optimization, Bayesian statistics, and artificial intelligence. Especially, the research projects conducted so far lay a special emphasis upon establishing the practical solutions in assessing, validating, and designing structural systems. The outcome of such studies has contributed to the development of multi-hazard risk assessment framework, risk-based model verification & validation (V&V) method, efficient seismic vulnerability evaluation method, new structural design concepts and optimal design method for a wide range of real-life structures. Recent projects are attempting an application of artificial intelligence to diverse issues which may arise in geo-technical structures and concrete materials, and seismic enhancement for piping system and building structural system utilizing damping devices.
