A friend, who is herself a psychologist, referred me to the CBT treatment program in Haifa University. My friend knows how much I suffer during flights and believed it is worth trying. I must admit I was very skeptical since I already underwent several treatment programs that did not help. Since this program includes virtual reality I decided to try it, thinking I have nothing to lose…In short, I suffer from Claustrophobia, till I began this treatment I only flew on short flights, and with the aid of sedatives. The weekly meetings with Ariela, in addition to the homework were successful and at the end of therapy I flew to Rome without any pills. The biggest achievement is the fact that I ordered plane tickets to The US, something that would not have been possible prior to therapy. It is not a magic solution, it entails hard work and a real drive to succeed. I warmly recommend this treatment program to anyone suffering from fear of flying, why suffer!!! It is possible to greatly improve the situation.

I came to this treatment program after trying various fear of flight programs, each helped me somewhat however I felt that none of them managed to efficiently penetrate the fear in a thorough and exact manner. Following this treatment program, I returned to flying without the use of pills or alcohol. The treatment was very helpful as well as teaching me to apply this thinking method to other fears and difficulties I experience, which are not connected to flying. I must point out that this is not magic and that the treatment entails the ability to introspect as well as to do self-work as homework. The therapist was very attentive with a lot of patience and a phenomenological ability to observe, and helped me in every step of the way.

After several attempts at conventional treatment for my fears and flight phobia I arrived at the Cognitive Behavior Treatment Lab in the University of Haifa. Due to my phobia I did not fly for the past 14 years. I was unwilling to give up travel, so my cognitive therapist suggested I try the treatment in your lab. The treatment was very professional, warm and caring and after a very short period of therapy (10 meetings), I received tools that enabled me to deal with my fears. I learned that when the anxiety arrives on its own, even if I do not do a thing it leaves within a short time frame. I finished the therapy in October, 2016, and immediately after that I flew for the first time, with great success, and everything went smoothly. I flew again in December 2017, and am planning another flight in July. I strongly recommend this treatment!
