In the previous unit, students wrote their own plays. In this unit, students may choose to direct their own play, or a ten minute play of their choosing. Other students are acting, or participating as part of stage crew during the production. Directing is a new skill, as is crew. Directors are required to develop blocking, create a set design and costume design organize and delegate responsibilities to crew, run rehearsals, and give feedback to actors and crew. The crew holds a variety of roles, there are stage managers who support the directors by writing down blocking, and leading the rest of the crew, as well as taking notes from the director. The stage crew, moves props, and runs technical aspects. The actors continue practicing previously learned skills, but for the first time have a director leading them.
