Article I: About the Club
Official Club Name: Peninsula High School Theatre Club
Purpose: To cultivate a vibrant theatrical community at PHS, encouraging artistic expression, technical skill development, and appreciation of the dramatic arts.
Goals: To produce high-quality theatrical productions, foster a supportive environment for creative growth, and engage with the broader school community through performances and events.
PHS Performing Arts Mission Statement: To develop personal and theatrical excellence that inspires, educates, entertains, and reflects the human experience.
Article II: Membership and Affiliation
Membership Requirements: Open to all 9-12 PSD students interested in theatre; commitment to attend meetings and participate in productions. Must be an ASB member.
Affiliations: Is registered as the CTSO for the Theatre Design Class; as such a plan of work must be completed each school year.

Article II: Officer Groups and Positions
Group 1: The Brains (Administration and Documentation)
Treasurer: Manages the club’s finances, including budgeting, transactions, and fundraising, ensuring financial transparency and compliance.
Historian: Documents and archives the club's activities, maintaining records like photographs, videos, and written accounts.
Dramaturg: Researches and develops scripts, providing historical context, themes, and technical insights for productions.
Group 2: The Heart (Engagement and Outreach)
Morale Liaison: Enhances club spirit, organizes team-building activities, and oversees recruitment efforts.
Public Relations: Manages external communications, promoting club activities through various media channels.
Thespian Representative: Liaises with local, state, and national thespian societies, aligning the club with broader theatrical standards and opportunities.
Group 3: The Muscle (Operations and Technical Coordination)
Facility Coordinator: Oversees scheduling and maintenance of spaces, ensuring proper organization for club activities.
Understudy: Prepares for various roles in productions and manages agenda order in council meetings when needed.
Technician Representative: Coordinates between the technical crew and performers, ensuring effective communication and technical needs are met.
Article IV: Meetings
General Meeting Info:
Drama Club: Every Wednesday from 2:15 PM to 3:30 PM : Auditorium
Theatre Council: Meetings follow from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM : RM 807 (Greenroom)
Tech Tuesdays are held every Tuesday from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM : Auditorium
Attendance Requirements: Officers must maintain active participation, with no more than 10% absences allowed. Extra meetings may be required for certain roles.
Article V: Council Meeting Procedures
Agenda Setting: Council members can propose agenda items by adding them to the shared document, The order of the Agenda is organized by the Advisor and the Understudy
Consensus Vote: Uses a thumb gesture system for decision-making, ensuring collective agreement.
Article VI: Powers and Responsibilities of the Executives
Elections: Officers are elected via a combined scoring system of Club Vote (Ranked Choice Voting), Interview Scores, and Application Scores, tallied by the advisors.
Term Duration: Officers serve for 13 months, from May to the end of the following school year.
Transition Period: Ensures smooth transfer of responsibilities, particularly crucial in June during the council transition.
Article VII: Additional Officer Responsibilities and Assistantship Program
Summer Leadership Retreat: Officers are required to attend, focusing on leadership development and planning for the upcoming year.
Officer Assistants: Each officer will have an assistant providing leadership training and operational support. The Officer and the Advisor may select an assistant to fulfill a term. A term will last for a quarter of the school year (2 terms per semester) Assistant may also be selected for a summer term. Assistants are not allowed to vote unless the Officer they support is not present at the vote.
Article VIII: Officer Handbooks and Constitutional Review
Officer Position Handbooks: A living document for each role, reviewed quarterly during the assistant transition meetings. Each Assistants specific responsibilities shall be included in the officers handbook
Annual Constitution Review: Conducted every June to ensure the constitution remains relevant and effective.

Article IX: Honorary Council Positions
The following student roles are granted honorary positions on the council during their assigned production, contributing to decision-making. They may vote in matters affecting their responsibilities.
Directors; Assistant Directors, Choreographers, and Stage Manager:
Article X: Advisors
The advisor supports club operations, guides financial decisions, and assists in conflict resolution. The advisor may veto any decision if they deem it necessary. The advisor may make decisions for the club as they see fit. Council Members may request a report from the advisor on these decisions.
Article XI: Amendments
Procedure: Proposals for amendments can be made by any club member and require a majority vote for adoption.
Handbooks may be amended by the Officer and their Assistants. All changes must be reported to the council and approved.
How are student leaders selected? It depends on the department.
Theatre council
Elected by a popular vote from the theatre club and classes (play production, theatre design, drama one), as well as a interview process with the directors and the graduating seniors on the current year's theatre council
Department/design heads
Selected by last year's design heads before they graduate and by the directors, without a formal interview process
Stage managers
Selected by the directors based on traits of trust, capability, and responsibility
Student directors
Selected informally through interest and commitment to each new production
Golden technicians
Selected for traits of innovation and hard-work by tech department heads and by the technical director, Mr. McKnight
Broadway coat winners
Selected for traits of leadership and reliability by the artistic director, Bryan Bullock
